Choose the Right Desiccant by Type for Safe and Efficient Use
Different desiccants have different compositions, applicable scenarios, and risks:
Silica Gel Desiccant (Transparent Beads)
Non-toxic, odorless, and chemically stable. Some will change color after absorbing moisture (e.g., from blue to pink), and can be dried and reused. Suitable for moisture protection of delicate items such as food, cameras, and electronic products.
Mineral Desiccant (Gray Granules)
Mostly made of montmorillonite, natural and environmentally friendly, and inexpensive. Suitable for dehumidifying small spaces such as shoe cabinets and wardrobes.
Quicklime Desiccant (White Powder/Blocks)
